The Fathers

Enoch

Enoch learned how to worship from his fathers and would have heard from Adam during the first 65 years of his life. So he knew how to come to know God through worshiping the Father and honoring the son. He learned from Adam who had walked with God and from Seth and Enosh who preached and called upon the LORD.

Enoch, at the age of 65, walked with God for the next 300 years and during that time he had sons and daughters. So he was raising his family, teaching, guiding and all that comes with being a Father. He witnessed his children have children and their children have children and so on. No doubt he taught them about God and how to worship him. He would have taught them about the coming Messiah and how to live righteously.

For 243 of those years Adam was still on the earth. I can imagine the discussions that Adam and Enoch had as they discussed the experiences they had with God. As with all of those who come to God he would have prophesied and taught those around him as he invited them to worship the Father.

Methuselah was born the same year Enoch began to walk with God so he grew up with a Father that stood in the presence of God. Enoch taught him how to worship and to have faith in the coming Messiah. Methuselah also was alive for the last 243 years of Adam’s life. He would have heard of the experience that both Adam and Enoch had in coming to know God in his presence. Methuselah’s son Lamech was also alive for the last 56 years of Adam's life so he also heard from the mouth of Adam and Enoch of their experiences with God. Both being taught how to approach God and come to know him.

After 300 years of walking with God on earth he was translated without dying for God took him. Both Methuselah and Lamech lived through the time Enoch was translated. Noah, his great grandson was born 69 years later.
